Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
As the hustle and bustle of the holiday season approaches, it's all too easy to get caught up in the materialistic aspects of Christmas. Who doesn’t love a great gift or shopping for the holidays? So many never even consider what is the true meaning of Christmas. Sometimes we get caught up in the midst of twinkling lights, gift exchanges, and seasonal festivities, but it's important to remember the spiritual significance of this joyous occasion. Not as an afterthought. Oh yeah, it's Jesus’ birthday. We typically focus on every other aspect of Christmas. If it had not been for Jesus coming to Earth, there would be no Christmas and no celebration. When we leave the main focus points out, we end up getting something else. Xmas, no Christ.
What does Christmas mean to you and how will you celebrate Christ in your Christmas?
1. Embracing the Season Intentionally
The period leading up to Christmas, we can prepare our hearts and minds for the celebration of Christ's birthday. We can partake in daily devotions and reflect on our lives with Christ as our Savior. I suggest the book of Luke for your daily devotional, or any one of the four gospels that talk about the life, the working, and ministry of Jesus.

2. Acts of Kindness
We can engage in acts of charity and goodwill towards others. This is a meaningful way to honor the true meaning of Christmas. Whether it's volunteering at a local shelter, donating to a charitable cause, or reaching out to those in need, these acts can serve as a reflection of the love and compassion exemplified by Jesus.
3. Nativity Displays
Setting up a Nativity scene in your home can serve as a visual reminder of the humble circumstances surrounding the birth of Jesus. Encouraging discussions about the significance of each figure within the Nativity scene can help keep the focus on the religious aspect of Christmas.
4. Reflection on Salvation
Reflecting on your salvation, is a great way to remember Christ in your Christmas. Encourage family and friends to do the same.
Amid the commercialization of Christmas, it's essential to intentionally keep Christ at the center of our celebrations. By incorporating faith-focused devotion, reading, acts of kindness, and moments of reflection, we can ensure that the spiritual significance of Christmas remains a cherished and integral part of our holiday. Let us also remember the greatest gift of all is the birth of Jesus Christ. Prayerfully this has helped you to keep Christ in your Christmas.
